The State Bar of Michigan offers a variety of support for sections, including basic financial and administrative services. Core services are provided to at no cost to sections and additional services also are available for reasonable fees. Important Dates to Remember
September/October: Submit council election results
November: Orientation
November: Complete survey sharing planned and prospective section event dates
April 1: Deadline to report any change in section dues for the next fiscal year, starting October 1
Mid-June: Attend Great Lakes Legal Conference. Scholarships are available.
July: Submit Section Annual Report
Mid-September: Finalize fiscal year-end revenues and expenses
October: Confirm fiscal year-end revenues and expenses

SBM Services for Sections
Core financial and administrative services (no cost)
The State Bar of Michigan will segregate funds it holds on behalf of sections and retain any interest or absorb any loss on these funds in exchange for providing these services.
- Accounting for all section revenues and expenses
- Process section dues payments
- Answer member dues questions
- Monthly financial reports
- Account reconciliation
- Process all bills and payables
- Process accounts receivable and past due letters
- Provide annual external audit of section funds
- Provide staff liaison assistance to sections
- Maintain section council records and bylaws
- Maintain section member database
- Provide webpage including home page, links to section newsletters/events, and special reports
- Basic meeting services at SBM upon request
