Three Easy Ways to Get Your Blog Noticed
Your blog entry is written and posted. The content is informative and interesting. The formatting is attractive and will draw readers. Now you want to get it noticed. Some blogs have a huge following, but most of us aren't so lucky. Here are three easy ways to get your blog noticed.
Tag & Label Your Blogs
Most publishing tools let you set up categories when you create your blog, and these are the topics of your blog. For example, if you practice family law, you can write about divorce, separation, custody, mediation, child support, and adoption.
You can also tag each post. Tags are keywords or phrases that describe your content. You can find a place for tags or labels on the side or the end of your post when you're in edit mode.
Add Links to Old or Related Articles
Many times, what you are writing is an update of another post or additional thoughts on a common topic, such as divorce. Link to the past article in your post. This helps readers looking for more information and shows you are an authority on the topic.
Let the Social Media World Know Your Blog Exists
Twitter: It's not just for politicians, actors, and rock stars—lawyers can use Twitter too. Twitter is a networking tool and a news source. It can boost your reputation. Tweeting interesting content for the general public can bring visitors to your website and build relationships. When you write a new blog post of interest to your clients, tweet about it.
Facebook: If your Facebook account includes both personal and business information, a Facebook page could work for your law firm. Create a page through your personal account, customizing it by posting articles, videos, photos, and adding links to items of interest. People who like your page and their friends can get updates via the news feed. Keep followers engaged with interesting content and include a link to your blog.
SBM Member Directory: The SBM Member Directory is more than a list of names. It includes a spot for you to easily post your blog. Sign in to the directory and go to your profile page. In the top right-hand corner of the screen are three horizontal lines—click on them. Scan down the list, click on "Add +" and find "Submit a blog." Click on it, follow the directions, and soon you'll have added your latest blog entry ready to be seen by consumers.
LinkedIn: Sign in to your LinkedIn account and click on "Publish a post." Once there, follow directions to easily post your entry.
Following these three easy steps will help people find and read your blog posts. The results may not be immediately apparent but over time, your readership and practice will grow.
