FOCUS: FY 2012 Budget Completed by Legislature
On May 26, the Legislature completed the budget bills for Fiscal Year 2011-2012, which are now before Governor Snyder for enactment. HB 4325 (school aid budget) was adopted by a vote of 21 to 17 in the Senate and 59 to 50 in the House; and HB 4526 (omnibus budget) was adopted by a vote of 23 to 15 in the Senate and 62 to 47 in the House.

FOCUS: Governor Snyder Signs Tax Bills
On May 25, Governor Snyder signed into law HB 4361 and HB 4362, which change the business tax structure in Michigan effective January 1, 2012, and replace the Michigan Business Tax with a 6% Corporate Tax. A detailed analysis by the House Fiscal Agency can be found online.
