The following bills, introduced in the Michigan Legislature during the 2015-2016 Legislative Session, may be considered by the Board of Commissioners. Their listing here does not necessarily mean that a position will be taken, nor that the subject matter has been determined to be within the scope of permissible State Bar advocacy. If a position for or against is adopted by the required two-thirds vote, that action will be reported under the State Bar position on bills. You may obtain copies of the bills from the Michigan Legislature.

Senate Bills

Section and Committee Participation

    The State Bar refers bills of interest to sections and committees whose jurisdiction is within the subject matter of the bill. Responses submitted are used by the Public Policy, Image, and Identity Committee of the State Bar, as well as the Board of Commissioners and Representative Assembly to determine what position, if any, the State Bar should take on a particular bill or issue.
