Cost: FREE with commitment to accept a pro bono tax case
The training is free of charge with the commitment to accept a pro bono tax law case referral within six months from the PBI Michigan Litigation Assistance Partnership Program (MI-LAPP).
The training, provided by law school professors with many years of hands-on tax law experience, will provide the basics for handling a tax case, and overview the extensive reference and mentoring resources that will be available to attorneys participating in the program.
Eligible tax case referrals will include the following issues:
- IRS liens and levies
- Offers in compromise
- Installment agreements
- Innocent and injured spouse relief
- Collection due process hearings and appeal conferences
- Poverty exemptions
- Tax audits
- Individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN) issues
This is a great opportunity to expand your legal expertise and earning potential. This training is excellent for attorneys who are new to the area of tax law, or experienced attorneys looking for a refresher course.
