Many SBM members have recently received marketing materials offering to sell “The Attorney Badge” for identification purposes. “The Attorney Badge” is not SBM-endorsed or approved and is not a substitute for the annually-issued SBM membership card, which evidences a member’s status and can be used for identification purposes, nor does possession of “The Attorney Badge” make any statement about the status of a person as a member in good standing or afford the holder any rights or privileges in addition to those afforded the holder of an SBM membership card. Accordingly, the SBM does not endorse or recommend the purchase of “The Attorney Badge” and cautions its members regarding its use.
