State Bar of Michigan Officers Elected for 2009-2010
8/17/09 Charles R. Toy of Lansing has been elected president of the State Bar of Michigan for the 2009-2010 bar year. He will be sworn in as president of the more than 40,000-member organization at a luncheon on Thursday, September 17, during SBM's Annual Meeting in Dearborn. Also serving as officers for 2009-2010 will be President–Elect W. Anthony Jenkins of Detroit, Vice-President Julie I. Fershtman of Farmington Hills, Secretary Bruce A. Courtade of Grand Rapids and Treasurer Brian D. Einhorn of Southfield. Toy is the associate dean of career and professional development at Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, and previously practiced environmental, commercial, and criminal litigation with Farhat and Story PC in Lansing. Jenkins practices law with Dickinson Wright PLLC in Detroit, focusing on corporate, real estate, and public finance law. Fershtman is of council to Zausmer, Kaufman, August, Caldwell & Tayler PC in Farmington Hills, and practices insurance defense, insurance coverage, business litigation, recreational and sporting liability, and equine law. Courtade is with Rhoades McKee in Grand Rapids, practicing construction law, commercial litigation, general business counseling, and criminal defense. Einhorn practices law with Collins, Einhorn, Farrell & Ulanoff PC in Southfield and concentrates on professional liability litigation, products liability litigation, construction defect defense, insurance coverage dispute litigation, and judicial tenure matters. Elizabeth Moehle Johnson of Plymouth will be the 2009-2010 chairperson of the Representative Assembly. Vice-chairperson is Victoria Radke of Escanaba. The Representative Assembly will elect a new clerk at its meeting in September.
