Gardella Sworn In as SBM Representative Assembly Chairman
9/27/07 Robert C. Gardella of Brighton has been sworn in as the chairman of the State Bar Representative Assembly for 2007-08. Michigan Supreme Court Justice Michael Cavanaugh officiated at the ceremony, which was held in conjunction with the SBM Annual Meeting in Grand Rapids. The Representative Assembly is the final policy-making body of the State Bar.
"It is an honor to be a part of the leadership team of the Representative Assembly and to help resolve policy issues that confront the legal profession," Gardella said. Gardella was elected to the 150-member Representative Assembly in 1999. He has served on various committees and as vice-chair and clerk of the Assembly. He is also a member of the State Bar Board of Commissioners and the SBM Executive Committee. He was president of the Livingston County Bar Association from 1998-1999 and is a current member of the State Bar's Consumer, Family Law, and General Practice sections. Gardella is also a fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation, an honorary distinction based on professional legal excellence and community contributions. Gardella practices in Brighton Township and focuses on family law, civil litigation, criminal defense, motor carrier law, and business and transportation law. He is the legal counsel and lobbyist for the Great Lakes Limousine Association, and also serves as legal counsel for numerous trucking companies in southeastern Michigan. ###
