MSU-DCL Gets Grant From ATJ

December 9, 2002

Four thousand dollars in grant money from the Access to Justice (ATJ) Fund has been awarded to Michigan State University's - Detroit College of Law (MSU-DCL). The Michigan State Bar Foundation awarded the money in September 2002, as part of a second round of grants from the ATJ Fund.

The grant money will be used for web site integration with the state's legal aid community's LawHelp web template. MSU-DCL will work with the Michigan Poverty Law Program so that the project may coordinate with and benefit other legal aid providers. Staff training and content design will enhance resources for tax and housing clinics that assist low-income clients.

A total of $45,000 in grant money from the ATJ Fund was awarded to various agencies to improve outreach and civil legal services to poor Michigan residents who face problems like loss of housing, access to health care, family violence and consumer scams. These grants were made possible through contributions from lawyers, judges and others to the ATJ Campaign. To donate to the ATJ Fund, please visit www.atjfund.org or call 1-800-968-1442.
