In fact, Aylward often satisfies the standard with a single case, as she did last year with her work on a veteran’s matter she obtained through Thomas M. Cooley Law School’s “Service to Soldiers” program. In that case, she helped a Jackson County Army vet navigate his way through a complex and messy divorce involving a pro-se, out-of-state spouse who suffered from physical and mental health issues. On Saturday May, 12, 2012 lawyer volunteers joined others in a project called, "The Greening of Detroit.' The event, hosted by The Greening, was a way for the Federal Bar Association’s (FBA) Diversity Committee to give back in their own way. They called the day “Digging Diversity.”
Daniel Quick, the FBA Diversity Committee co-chair said he participated in the event, “to bring the bar association that is dedicated to diversity together to create a synergy.” The group met in the Osborn Neighborhood of Detroit to plant over 166 trees. Read More

The State Bar Appellate Practice Section’s "Good Deeds Committee" recently hooked up with the Ronald McDonald House, and everybody was ‘lovin it. APS volunteers provided families staying at the Ronald McDonald House with a full banquet meal that included rotisserie chicken, roasted vegetables, cheesy potatoes, antipasto salad, burritos and rice. The volunteers designed the menu, provided all the food, served it to the families, and even cleaned up afterward. But perhaps most importantly, they got to spend time and get to know the families, whose children are hospitalized for varying reasons at Detroit Children’s Hospital. Read More
